Kansas regulations require that districts develop and implement written policies to govern the use of Emergency Safety Interventions in all schools.  Emergency Safety Intervention (ESI) is defined as seclusion and restraint that is used when the student presents an immediate danger to self or others.  Lawrence Public School’s Board of Education adopted an ESI policy (GAAF) on October 28, 2013 which is available on the district's website.  The policy will also be available on the building websites and online handbooks as of November 14, 2014.
