Each year the Lawrence Schools Foundation makes grant applications available to those in the school district.  Here is a look:

Hanzlik Hands On Academy Teacher Grant

The purpose of this fund is to support elementary teachers who will instruct or expose kids to the areas of design and build activities to incorporate a hands-on learning experience within their classroom curriculum for areas such as physics, math and science through a Maker Space in connection with the Lawrence College and Career Center.

Applications open on Sept. 1 and are due to the LSF office by October 31, 2018 by 5 p.m. The Foundation will publicize the awards after recipients are notified.

McCownGordon, LLC Teacher Grant

The McCownGordon, LLC annual grant was established in 2016 to support teachers who will instruct or expose kids to the areas of construction, engineering or architecture. The primary focus will be on the number of kids impacted. Applications open on Sept. 1 and are due to the LSF office by 5 p.m. on October 31, 2018.

Innovative Teaching Grants

The Lawrence Schools Foundation Innovative Teaching Grant program provides the opportunity for an educator or a group of educators to enhance the educational experience of their students. Grants are awarded to teachers who implement innovative and unique programs or projects for their students that enrich learning, result in increased student achievement and engage students in critical thinking and problem solving.

Applications open on Feb. 1, 2019 and are due to the LSF office by 5 p.m. on March 15, 2019. Applicants will be notified of grant selections in early April 2019, and funding will be available beginning July 1, 2019.  The Foundation will publicize the awards after recipients are notified. The deadline for spending grant funds is June 30, 2019.

Carl Knox Staff Development Grant 

The Foundation will present two $500 grants each Spring. Grants may fund professional development experiences, such as summer institutes, action research, mentoring experiences or lesson study. Professional development must improve practice, curriculum and student achievement and recipients must put professional leadership into practice by sharing what they learn with their colleagues.

Applications open on Feb. 1, 2019 and are due to the LSF office by March 31, 2019 by 5 p.m. Applicants will be notified of grant selections at the Foundation Follies in April.

Music Endowment Grants

The Music Endowment is a fund of the Lawrence Schools Foundation and the result of the fundraising efforts of Music Works! to enhance and enrich music education in the Lawrence public schools. Grants will provide music educators with funds they need to enhance access to, enrich the quality of, and expand the educational experiences of their students.

Applications open on April 1, 2019 and are due to the LSF office by 5 p.m. on April 30, 2019. Applicants will be notified of grant selections by the end of May, and funding will be available beginning July 1, 2019. The Foundation will publicize the awards after recipients are notified. The deadline for spending grant funds is June 30, 2020.

School Assistance Grants

The School Assistance Grants is a program established by the Lawrence Schools Foundation to provide funding for defined areas of use in the Lawrence Public Schools for needs that are not being met with state or federal monies. All schools in the district are encouraged to apply for funds currently available and selections will be based on equity and merit as determined by a review committee.

Applications open on May 1, 2019 and are due to the LSF office by 5 p.m. on May 31, 2019. Applicants will be notified of grant selections as soon as possible, with funding available July 1, 2019. The deadline for spending grant funds is June 30, 2020.
