Lawrence Public Schools Closed March 13 Through March 29, 2020
Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health has ordered closures for 14 days of all K-12 schools, recreational facilities, and public libraries in an effort to stem the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The order prohibits public gathering of more than 250 people in Douglas County. The closure order, which was made in consultation with city, county, and school officials, including Lawrence Superintendent Dr. Anthony Lewis, takes effect immediately.
As a result, Lawrence Public Schools will be closed March 13-March 29. All school activities, practices, and events also are canceled during this time, unless special permission is granted by the superintendent.
