Emergency Text Notifications

Lawrence Public Schools offers the option for parents/guardians and high school students to receive emergency text notifications.

Upon completion of the New Student Enrollment or Annual Student Registration process, including providing cell phone contacts and all required documentation, parents/caregivers and high school students will be enrolled in emergency text notifications. The Lawrence school district's Communications Office will use text messaging sparingly and only to relay emergency information.

Generally, the cell phone number(s) you provided during registration should receive an initial welcome text within 3-7 days after completing the registration process.

Whether message and data rates apply depend on your personal cell phone service plan. Please contact your service provider with any questions or for more information.

Managing Your Emergency Text Notifications

Unsubscribing

If you decide that you do not want to receive emergency text notifications from your student's school and the Lawrence school district, text "STOP" to unsubscribe.

Re-enrolling

If you unsubscribe and want to re-enroll in emergency text notifications from your student's school and the Lawrence school district, text "YES" in the same text thread to re-enroll.

Crisis Communication Protocol

In case of any emergency at a school, the process used to contact district support is to follow our crisis protocol for contact.

Lawrence Public Schools principals and administrators are very clear and well-practiced in this crisis communication process. We use this process successfully every day across our schools to ensure prompt awareness and direct, real-time support to school teams.

NOTE: These crisis contacts are to a designated crisis intervention group, not a call to an office number.

Everyone, as we do with all emergencies, should work directly with their administrator, OR in the case of a pressing emergency, utilize their Centegix system, or call 911 as appropriate.
