Thank you for helping us recognize some of our many outstanding Lawrence educators, support staff, and administrators!

Team Member Site-Based Recognition Programs

As part of the district's strategic plan's focus on effective employees, each school, program, and district worksite recognizes outstanding team members on a regular basis. Please help us honor outstanding staff by submitting a nomination.

Nominations may be submitted by anyone for any staff member (except members of the nominee's family) from any school or support location. Please include in your nomination as much detail as possible about what makes the nominee deserving of recognition. Thank you for helping us to promote the qualities we desire of all team members by honoring teachers, support staff, and principals who model leadership and teamwork, champion students of all backgrounds and abilities, and inspire everyone around them to always do their best!

Lawrence Master Teacher

Lawrence Public Schools selects one Lawrence Master Teacher each spring for local recognition and as its nominee to the Kansas Master Teacher program sponsored by Emporia State University. Truity Credit Union, a LEAP partner, provides $2,500 to the recipient.

Nominees should be teachers who have taught or served in an instructional leadership role for at least five years. Nominees should exemplify teaching and/or administrative effectiveness, constructive service in the community, zeal in promoting the advancement of education, and a sincere interest in professional organizations.

No nomination form is required. Simply write a detailed letter of recommendation about why you think the teacher deserves to be honored. Send Letters of Recommendation to the Superintendent in care of Julie Boyle, executive director of communications, by the end of December.

(All previous nominations remain in the awards pool.)

Lawrence Teachers of the Year

The teacher should be exceptionally skilled, dedicated and inspire students of all backgrounds and abilities to learn. The candidate should have the respect and admiration of students, parents and colleagues and should play an active and useful role in the community as well as in the school. The nominee must be committed to serving as a leader in efforts to improve schools, student performance and the teaching profession.
