Lawrence Adult Education Center
For more than 40 years, learners of all ages have achieved their Kansas State High School Diplomas through completion of the GED at the Lawrence Adult Education Center.
Hundreds of graduates from the Lawrence Adult Education Center have furthered their education, achieved job promotions, and improved their employment position. Basic Reading and Math Skills (ABE)
Adult Basic Education (ABE)
Our Adult Basic Education (ABE) program will teach basic reading and math skills and strategies essential in improving the participant’s knowledge base. Identified individual learning needs will determine the skills and strategies to be covered.

English Language Acquisition (ELA)
The English Language Acquisition (ELA) program at the Lawrence Adult Education Center integrates English language listening, speaking, writing, and reading instruction. Fall and spring semester ELA classes are offered.

GED Preparation
At the Lawrence Adult Education Center, we provide math, reading, writing, social studies, and science classes — vital for successful completion of the GED exam — to adults of any age and ability. Our GED preparation program offers students the individualized support and academic instruction they need to earn their Kansas State High School Diploma through successful completion of the GED test.
For over 40 years, hundreds of students have successfully completed the GED and earned their diploma through the Lawrence Adult Education Center.

Lawrence Diploma Completion Program (LDCP)
The Lawrence Diploma Completion Program (LDCP) provides the opportunity for students to complete requirements for a high school diploma.
Students who enroll receive a transcript review by high school counselors to determine how many credits are needed to complete requirements to receive a high school diploma. Upon completing the necessary credits, students receive a Lawrence Free State High or Lawrence High School diploma, depending on which school they previously attended or the attendance center boundary where they currently reside. Students also receive a completed transcript and grade point average.

Our next Adult Basic Education (ABE) & G.E.D. session begins on Monday, May 18th, 2026 (Enrollment Deadline: Wednesday, May 6th, 2026). Our next English Language Acquisition (ELA) session begins enrollment for August 2026 in May. Check back soon for more information on ELA classes.
Our classes are delivered in person at a time convenient to you. We offer flexibility to accommodate certain life situations, but by signing up, you are committed to meeting in person. For information regarding our available class times, please visit our Class Schedules page using the link below.

- Mandatory Orientation: Monday, May 18th – Thursday, May 21st
- Please note: you must attend all 4 days of orientation to complete the enrollment process.

Important Dates & Info (GED/ABE Enrollment)
- Enrollment Window: Now – Wednesday, March 4th, 2026
- Mandatory Orientation: Monday, March 23rd through Thursday, March 26th
- Please note: You must attend all 4 days of orientation to complete the enrollment process.
- Orientation begins at 8:30 AM for our morning session, 12:30 PM for our afternoon session, and 5:30 PM for the evening session. Orientation & classes are held at the Peaslee Tech campus (2920 Haskell Ave STE 100, Lawrence, KS 66046).
- $25 Material Fee due at orientation (Cash, Check, or Money Order).
- First Day of Regular Classes: Monday, March 30th
