Choice Campus at Centennial

Lawrence Public Schools is opening Choice Campus at Centennial, a personalized high school pathway housed in the historic Centennial building. This new option is designed for students who benefit from nontraditional programming and a more flexible approach to earning their diploma.

What makes it different

• Personalized plans. Every student works with a Pathway Facilitator to build a schedule and learning plan connected to their own goals, whether that's college, a career, or another path after graduation.
• Flexible scheduling. Students can choose from morning, afternoon, or evening sessions, including options built for working students and credit recovery.
• Mastery-based learning. Students advance by demonstrating what they know through coursework, projects, and a portfolio, rather than by seat time alone.
• Connected to the whole district. Centennial coordinates with Lawrence Virtual School, Lawrence College & Career Center, Lawrence high schools, and community partners so students can draw on resources across LPS.
   

Who it's for

Choice Campus at Centennial will be open to any high school student currently enrolled in LPS, but it's especially well-suited for those looking for added flexibility, a different pace, or a learning environment that better fits their life circumstances.

Kindergarten

If you have a child who will be five years old on or before August 31, 2027, we would love to welcome you to kindergarten for the 2027-2028 school year!

Kindergarten enrollment for the 2027-28 school year will begin in February 2027. 

• Kindergarten Orientation will be held in April 2027.
  • Parents of enrolled students will receive an invitation to sign up for a session. Be sure to enroll your child as soon as possible to be sure you don't miss out!

Lawrence Virtual School (LVS)

Lawrence Virtual School is now enrolling for the second semester of the 2026-2027 School Year. Enrollment for the first semester is closed. 

We encourage families to check back for enrollment information and additional details. We look forward to another wonderful year of learning, growing, and welcoming our LVS learners to Lawrence Public Schools!

For current USD 497 students wanting to transfer to LVS for the 2026–27 school year, please submit a Transfer Request Form for consideration. Please note that transfers are granted on a space-available basis.

New York Montessori is Kansas' first public Montessori school.

Enrollment for the 2027–28 school year will open in February 2027. The New York Montessori program began with a phased approach to offering Montessori education at New York Elementary School and now serves preschool through 5th grade. Priority enrollment is given to students who live within the New York Elementary School attendance area.

Over the past couple of years, we have been working to expand preschool opportunities throughout Lawrence Public Schools, and we look forward to welcoming new children and families for the 2027–2028 school year.

Preschool Information

Cost:

• For families who meet state eligibility criteria, district preschool programs are provided at no cost.
• For families who do not qualify for state-funded preschool, we offer a tuition-based enrollment option at a rate of $690 per month.

STEAM@LMCMS is a program that approaches teaching and learning in the classroom with a focus on S.T.E.A.M. concepts.

Located at Liberty Memorial Central Middle School, STEAM@LMCMS has students combine science, technology, engineering, arts, and math to solve practical problems through creative projects, collaborative discussion, and hands-on experimentation. All students will learn English, math, science, and social studies in accordance with the state standards. This program is open to all students in Grades 6-8.

Lawrence Adult Education Center

For more than 40 years, learners of all ages have achieved their Kansas State High School Diplomas through completion of the GED at the Lawrence Adult Education Center.

Hundreds of graduates from the Lawrence Adult Education Center have furthered their education, achieved job promotions, and improved their employment position.

Lawrence Diploma Completion Program

The Lawrence Diploma Completion Program (LDCP) provides the opportunity for students to complete requirements for a high school diploma.

Students who enroll receive a transcript review by high school counselors to determine how many credits are needed to complete requirements to receive a high school diploma. Upon completing the necessary credits, students receive a Lawrence Free State High or Lawrence High School diploma, depending on which school they previously attended or the attendance center boundary where they currently reside. Students also receive a completed transcript and grade point average.
