New Student Enrollment

For students not currently enrolled in our district, or enrolling in preschool, kindergarten, adult education, or special services. Select the enrollment type below that applies to your student to learn more.

Complete this form if your student is...

  • New to the district — never attended a USD 497 school
  • Not currently enrolled — transferred to another district or private school, or did not finish the most recent school year in USD 497, and are now returning to our district
  • Applying for preschool — new or returning applicants
  • Enrolling in kindergarten — includes students moving from USD 497 preschool (preschool enrollment does not carry over)
  • Enrolling for activities only — such as sports or specials (this enrollment type must be completed each year)
  • Enrolling in IEP or support services only (this enrollment type must be completed each year)
  • Enrolling in adult education (GED)

Returning to USD 497

Annual Student Enrollment

In July, parents/guardians of students returning to Lawrence Public Schools for grades 1–12 will complete the Annual Student Enrollment through their Parent PowerSchool account. Directions will be emailed to the student's primary contact. Q&A

Complete the Annual Enrollment if your student:

  • Is returning to Lawrence Public Schools in grades 1–12 for the 2026–2027 school year.
  • Attended Lawrence Public Schools through May 2026.
  • Moved to a different LPS school attendance area.
  • Has asked for a transfer request to a school outside of their boundary school. (The Annual Enrollment is a district-wide form and is not school-specific.)

Important:

  • The Annual Enrollment form cannot be used to change the primary parent/guardian a student lives with.
  • To update a student's primary parent/guardian and residential address, contact the Enrollment Center at 785-330-1921.
  • Annual Enrollment is required each year to review and sign required notices and update contact information as needed.
  • This process is separate from middle and high school course enrollment.
