Lawrence Public Schools' Office of Communications oversees the district's public, staff, and media relations programs. The Executive Director of Communications reports to the Superintendent of Schools and serves as an information liaison between the school system and the community, responds to requests for public information, and coordinates district special events, including the district's staff recognition program and bond issue elections and public referendums. The Multimedia Communications Specialist reports to the Executive Director and helps to answer that age-old question, "What did you do at school today?", by telling stories and sharing photographs and videos on social media.
Staff Recognition
Thank you for helping the district recognize some of its many exemplary teachers and support staff. Please send letters of recommendation to the Superintendent in care of the Communications Office to nominate classroom teachers for the annual Lawrence Master Teacher Award and Lawrence Teachers of the Year Awards, and classified support staff for the fall and spring Class Act Awards.
As part of the district's strategic plan's focus on Effective Employees, each school and educational support site regularly recognizes outstanding staff for their dedicated service. You may submit a nomination for any employee in the district to be recognized.
