Hi! I've been a music therapist in the Lawrence Public Schools since 2012. What is music therapy? In the Lawrence Public Schools, music therapy supports students with IEPS who are struggling to make progress on their goals. We create music interventions to support and work on IEP goals and benchmarks. I'm a district-wide employee and serve students from PK through the 18-21 transition program. Before Lawrence, I worked as a music therapist and adaptive music educator for the Wyandotte Special Education Cooperative for 8 years. I earned my music education degree from the University of Central Missouri and my masters of music education with a focus in music therapy from the University of Kansas. I enjoy working with my students and co-workers in Lawrence.
All though from central Missouri, I've lived in McLouth KS for the past 20 years with my husband Dave, my teenage son Henry and our dog Spot. Outside of work, I enjoy being outside. I like to camp, hike, kayak, bike and just sit out in nature. Recently, I've been trying out a new hobby in pottery. It's been an adventure.
I can't wait to see what adventures 2022-2023 bring us. There are always opportunities to stretch and grow.
