Mrs. Hurst grew up on a farm where her family didn’t have heating or air-conditioning and she wasn’t allowed to watch television. So, after she was done taking care of the sheep, collecting eggs, putting up hay, and carrying in the fire wood, she would spend her time sewing, drawing, and making things. She went to K.U. where she studied to be an art teacher, the best job in the whole world. Mrs. Hurst has been teaching art in the public schools for many years. She has also taught at the Natural History Museum, Van Go Mobile Arts, and the Lawrence Arts Center. When she’s not teaching, Mrs. Hurst is busy with her own three darling children who (believe it or not) like to make art! She has a Masters in Education, she loves to do photography, and she feels incredibly lucky to be the art teacher at Deerfield Elementary.
