Mrs. Jenny Humburg

Hi!   My name is Jenny Humburg and I am THRILLED to be your child’s kindergarten teacher!  It’s going to be a fun year full of learning and new adventures.  I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us.  This school year, your child will be part of a Blended Learning Classroom.  What does this mean?  Briefly, the blended learning classroom will increase your child’s engagement while encouraging collaboration and increased responsibility.  Your child will be using 21st century technologies to enhance his/her education, while benefitting from more one on one time with me.  Some new activities may include watching videos at home for homework or watching instructional videos in class to enhance whole group mini lessons.  Here are a few links to provide additional information on Blended Learning:

I am looking forward to getting to know all about you and your family, but first I would like to tell you a few things about me! I was born in Des Moines, Iowa and raised in Lawrence, Kansas.  I am the oldest of FOUR!  I have a younger brother, Roger, and two younger sisters, Sarah and Katie.  When I graduated from high school, I moved to Manhattan to attend Kansas State UniversityGo WILDCATS!

After graduating from KSU, I moved to Ft. Worth, TX to begin my teaching career.  I taught a mulit-age class for three years.  After three years, I decided to move “back home!”  I love Lawrence and knew I couldn’t stay away forever.  I have been teaching in Lawrence for 20 years!  Additionally, I received my master’s degree in Education from Baker University.

My husband, Andy, is a Project/Program Manager for Sprint.  We have on son, Carsten.  He is 10 and he will be a fifth grader at Deerfield. He is so much fun!  He loves books, Legos, and playing outside!  We also have two cats, Meeka and Draco!

I am looking forward to this new journey together and hope that it is filled with wonder and discovery!
