Joshua East serves as the Director of Choirs at Lawrence Free State High School. Born and raised in Emporia, Kansas, he received his Bachelor of Music in Education from Emporia State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and his Masters in Choral Conducting from the University of Connecticut. He has taught at both the middle and high school levels in rural, suburban, and urban districts. East is a founding member of the Tallgrass Chamber Choir and regularly performs in both concerts and recording sessions with the ensemble. As a violinist, East has played with groups such as the Lawrence Community Orchestra and the Collegium Early Music Ensemble.
