K-1st Grade Education Specialist
Hello to each of you! I am Terri Durgan, and it is a pleasure to teach and support K-1 students and families at LVS. My husband and I lived for many years in his home state of Maine then moved back to the home in which I grew up in Lawrence. We have two delightful daughters- one lives close by and the other lives in KC. I am an artist at heart and love creating, painting, drawing, photography, gardening, children’s literature, nature and exploring near & far.
My professional journey includes a BS.Ed in Elementary Education and MS.Ed in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment from the University of Kansas plus 30 graduate hours. I am a National Board of Certified Teacher in Middle Childhood Education. Throughout 37 years of being an educator, I have taught each grade level EK through Grade 6, Multi-age grades 2/3 and 5/6, Gifted Education K-3; I have taught graduate classes using assessment with students as partners. I enjoy developing learning paths for children focusing on project-based learning opportunities and technology. A special joy for me is sharing diverse points of view and understanding of each person’s uniqueness and culture.
