FAQs About Moving to the Hybrid Model:
The Hybrid Model
- All students will receive the same curriculum adopted by USD497 and the Kansas State Board of Education.
- Students currently enrolled in the Hybrid Learning Model will stay with their BMMS classroom teachers.
- Students currently enrolled in the Distance Learning Model will stay with their current BMMS distance classroom teachers. This learning format will be similar to what students have experienced so far this year.
- Families who decide to switch their students from Distance to Hybrid (or vice versa) will have new BMMS teachers/schedules assigned for Quarter 2.
- Students will attend in-person classes two days a week and participate in remote learning from home three days a week.
- Students will attend school on-site on their assigned day
- Group A = Last names A-K at BMMS on Mondays and Thursdays. This group will be remote on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
- Group B = Last names L-Z at BMMS on Tuesdays and Fridays. This group will be remote on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
- All efforts will be made to keep students from the same family on the same Group A or Group B schedule, if possible.
- Remote learning will look different depending on the classroom teacher. Content areas lend themselves to different structural needs. For example, some teachers will provide less “live” sessions during remote learning to allow for more asynchronous or individual work time. Other courses will be transmitted live in real-time from the classroom via Webex.
A Previous Note From Julie Boyle, Executive Director of Communications:
- “Families have the option to choose 100% Distance Learning instead of the Hybrid Model by completing this form for each student: ( https://forms.gle/bifDxCD2s2DxpN888 ) by October 9, 2020.”
- ONLY complete this form if you are choosing the 100% Distance Learning option.
- Families will be given another opportunity to change their student's enrollment before the second semester, which begins January 19.
