Hello Southwest Bulldogs!

I am your new Spanish and World Languages teacher at Southwest Middle School this year and I am very excited about this school year!

I teach World Languages, a mandatory 9 week course for all 7th graders and Spanish 1 which is a semester long elective course for 8th graders.  I am looking forward to meeting and getting to know all of the students here at Southwest.

I spent my childhood in San Luis Potosi, Mexico and moved to Southwest Kansas as a tween. I have called Lawrence home since I came up to KU 20 years ago. I graduated from KU with a degree in Biology and have worked in public health as a dental hygienist. Through my work in public health I was able to work in many schools accross our community and northeast Kansas. Now I find myself on an alternate route to the classroom which will allow me to continue serving my community while excercising my linguistic abilities. My mom, who was a teacher for many years, is certain that I really always wanted to be a teacher.
