Nathan Mangold

Hello and Greetings!  Thank you for reading a bit about me :)  I've been teaching and educating the youth of America for the past 10 years, but this will be my first year here at Free State.  Prior to coming to Free State, I taught 6th grade Social Studies at LMCMS in downton Lawrence for a year, and spent 8 years teaching middle school Social Studies in Kansas City, Kansas.  In addition to my role as a teacher, I have also coached soccer my entire career as an educator and am in my second year working with the soccer athletes of Free State!

I consider it a huge honor and blessing to be an educator in America.  The influence educators have on the future generations is a massive responsibility, and one I take great pleasure in helping mold and develop.  My teaching approach centers on the idea that school must be a safe place for every student to figure out how they best learn.  It's my aim to empower students through the PROCESS of learning.  While content (what we learn) is very important, the intricacies of HOW we learn are fundamental to whatever future success a student will acheive.  Students who have me as their teacher can expect to first, have relevant content to learn, and second, to have that content delivered through multiple avenues to meet them whereever they are.  I like to have fun while I facilitate learning, so expect to enjoy being in my classes.  Students can also expect to do most of the work themselves!  Thank you for your time, I very much look forward to meeting you and getting to work with you as a person, a learner, and a community contributor!  Much love.
