Michael Fredette is a 2000 graduate of Rhode Island College in Providence, R.I. Mr. Fredette taught ELA for three years at Hope High School and Nathan Bishop Middle School in Providence. After relocating to Lawrence, KS. Mr. Fredette worked as a paraeducator at Chase Middle School in Topeka for a year, then taught for fourteen years at Washington High School in KCK (USD 500), teaching ELA for ten years, and special education for four years, serving in a collaborative role in the general education classroom and teaching direct service special education classes in Physical Science and Environmental Science. Mr. Fredette was named Washington's "Star Teacher of the Year" is 2017, and completed a Master of Science from Fort Hays State University in Spring 2019. Mr. Fredette currently works in Lawrence (USD 497) as an eighth grade resource teacher. Mr. Fredette is married to Jamie Larsen, who teaches in USD 497's First Stop program at Centennial School, with whom he has two daughters, age 4 years old and 20 months.
