My name is Kori Alvarado and this is my sixth year at Sunflower as a 5th grade teacher. I earned my undergraduate degree from Kansas State University in Elementary Education in the fall of 2000. After graduating, I accepted a 5th grade position with the Fort Worth Independent school district. During my 18 years with FWISD, I received a certification in English as a Second Language. I taught 3rd, 4th and 5th grade at two elementary campuses but quickly discovered that 5th grade was my sweet spot! I am currently in my 24th year of teaching, which is my 21st year as a 5th grade teacher.
I am married with two children. My son just graduated from LHS. He will attend Peaslee Tech this year. My daughter will be a junior at LHS. She is our creative child, participates in Color Guard and is working on her seventh quilt.
I love being a teacher! My goal is to build relationships with my students and really get to know them. Growing up I played sports and now as an adult I love watching sports. My classroom is my team where we encourage, love and support one another. We always learn a lot and laugh even more on Team Alvarado! I can’t wait for the 2024-25 school year!!
