My name is Kori Alvarado and this is my fifth year at Sunflower as a 5th grade teacher. I earned my undergraduate degree from Kansas State University in Elementary Education in the fall of 2000. After graduating, I accepted a 5th grade position with the Fort Worth Independent School District. During my 18 years with FWISD, I received a certification in English as a Second Language. I taught 3rd, 4th and 5th grade at two elementary campuses but quickly discovered that 5th grade was my sweet spot! I am currently in my 23nd year of teaching, which is my 20th year as a 5th grade teacher.
I am married with two children. My son will be a senior this year at LHS. He is our football player so we spend our Friday nights at his football games. My daughter will be a sophomore at LHS. She is our creative child and is working on her fifth quilt.
I love being a teacher! My goal is to build relationships with my students and really get to know them. Growing up I played sports and now as an adult I love watching sports. My classroom is my team where we encourage, love and support one another. We always learn a lot and laugh even more on Team Alvarado! I can’t wait for the 2023-24 school year!!
