Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Farokhi

Hello! I am so excited to be a part of the Sunset Hill community!  As a Lawrence native I proudly attended all Lawrence Public Schools from Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade.  While attending KU I realized my love for teaching and earned my degree in elementary education and went on to earn a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from KU also.  After teaching in Shawnee Mission for several years my family relocated to Indiana where I continued to teach elementary school and earned a master's degree in library and information science.  I was the library media specialist at two elementary schools in Kansas City before moving again to Utah.  In Utah I got to go back to the classroom and teach elementary and junior high grades.  My family moved back to Kansas after many years and I was able to be the library media specialist in Junction City for two years.  Now in Lawrence I’m able to work in the district that inspired my love of learning!

My goal is to cultivate the reading culture at Sunset Hill with lots of talk about our “reading lives”.  I want our students, teachers, staff and parents to openly discuss what they are reading and what they are looking forward to reading next!  Another goal I have for the role of the library is to develop a love of asking questions and seeking answers with the tools and resources the library offers.  The library will be a place to explore with many technology tools, too!

I sponsor the Library Advisory Board and co-sponsor the Student Council.
