I am thrilled to continue my career in the Lawrence Public School District as the Educational Technology Integration Specialist for both Lawrence High School and Free State High School. My role is to support teachers as they continue to integrate technology within unit and lesson design. The district's vision of equity, cultural responsiveness and relevance, relationships, rigor, and excellence for all is the foundation of teaching and learning and provides direction for sound technology support centered upon pedagogy and research based instructional strategies.

Up Close and Personal
As educators, I believe we have a commitment to prepare students who will be responsive to the ethical and intellectual demands of a democratic society. To teach in a democracy is to consciously take up the challenge of improving the ethical and intellectual quality of our society by including high expectations of student success and championing a more literate citizenship. Education is a privilege, an opportunity, and a right in our country, and as such, educators must hold their profession in the highest regards, teach all students beyond their limitations and encourage thinking and learning outside of the traditional classroom.
The 21st Century learner requires a 21st Century education that is both engaging and informative, but also highly relevant to the world in which they live. 21st Century educators must be engaged in maintaining rigorous curriculum and course work, but also find innovative strategies and tools for engaging student learning and change teaching practices to more active learning and creation by students. Student engagement and digital tools are only as effective as the lesson, the objectives, and standards of higher level learning; and therefore, must be used to enhance good teaching. Educational Technology has the potential to revolutionize a classroom.
Whether students go on to postsecondary education, attend a vocational school, begin an apprenticeship in a field of their choice, or work full-time, literacy is monumental in maintaining a democratic nation.
Personal: My husband and I have lived through 5 teenagers in a 4 bedroom house, the addition of our daughter in 2015, and a home renovation that has spanned almost a year and a half, creating chaos and mess. The time we invest in our children and the children in our classes is what makes us tick. Our family has learned to share Mom and Dad with hundreds and hundreds of kids. The open hearts of our own children for all people of the world is the best reward we could receive.
