    Good morning LHS:

    Congratulations to the Lawrence High Boys Basketball team defeated Topeka West to win the Topeka Invitational Tournament. A big thank you to all the fans who came out to support the Chesty Lions. They are back in action this week Wednesday at Wyandotte and Friday at Gardner Edgerton.

    Spring athletes spring sports forms are DUE 4 weeks from today. Tryouts and practices begin in 5. Look for a forms list soon outside of the main office. Every spring athlete needs to check the list once it's posted.

    There will be a girls swim/dive parents informational meeting on Wednesday at 7:00pm in the cafeteria.

    There will be a Boys Golf meeting Thursday, Jan. 30 right after school in Coach Moos' Room.  It will be held upstairs in room 252.  If interested, please attend.

    ATTENTION:  Todd Poteet’s classes will be meeting in the old weight room today!

    Environmental Club will be meeting on Wednesday at 2:35 in Ms. Ball's room, room 326.  To celebrate Kansas Day, we will be hosting a native plant expert who will teach us how to clean native seeds for planting in our community.  You can earn volunteer hours for helping out and snacks will be served.

    What happens when the events in 'The Crucible' become too real for a high school English classroom? Find out this weekend when LHS Theatre presents, 'John Proctor is the Villain'. Set in rural high school, these students must deal with the aftershocks of assault, the MeToo movement and radical modern feminism in their own school. Join the LHS Theatre Department on Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. Tickets are just $3 for students. Warning, this production does contain sensitive content and adult language.

    Good morning LHS:

    The Lawrence High Athletic Department is pleased to announce that senior Sophia DeWitt will hold an athletic signing after school today, Wednesday in the LHS Library. Sophia, who is currently on the basketball team, will be signing with Emporia State for Cross Country and Track. Please stop by Library to congratulate Sophia on her accomplishment.

    Congrats to the LHS Debate team of J. Riggins and Joel Rose who finished in 4th place at the 6A State Championship Debate tournament last weekend. Way to go, Lions!

    Congratulations to the varsity Scholars Bowl team of Lisa Yang, Jake Rayome, Collin Marett, Leo Meyer, Abdullah Ahmed, and Abby Lingwall for finishing undefeated and taking first place overall at Olathe North last night! This included beating one of the best teams in the state twice! Way to go Lions!

    There will be a mandatory National Honor Society meeting on Wednesday, January 22 right after school in the auditorium. All members must plan on attending. See you then.

We sponsor the Unified Sports program, take great field trips, play games, learn to collaborate and how to take care of one another.  Applications can be found outside room 263 and in Student Services.     Columbia University will be here during the lunch hour.

Check your emails, and your parent's email for the sign-up sheet.

    Attention Juniors and Seniors:  We will be hosting another ACT prep session for students taking the ACT.  The fee is $25.00.  The preparation includes a full practice test which can be scored, and a test course taught by Jason Lichte of Multiple Choice Test Prep.  The class will be held at 2:45 on Wednesday, January 29th in the LHS cafeteria.  To reserve a spot student should bring payment to Mrs. Bradfield in Student Services ASAP.  Checks should be made payable to LHS.  Spots are limited and registration will be closed when the course is full.

    Good morning LHS:

    The Graffiti Magazine reading for January will take place in Library Classroom 1 today after school.  Please drop by to listen and read poetry.

    There will be a Total Equality Alliance meeting today after school in Room 343. All are welcome, and bring a friend!

    GOOD MORNING LHS:

    The varsity girls bowling team got second out of twenty teams at the Free State Invitational Tournament. Lana Chieu, Mollie Coffey, Bean Foster, Karla Tyler, Jojo Blackwood, and Emilie Rodman represented LHS with pride. Emilie Rodman was the top overall individual bowler in the tournament averaging 209 per game. The boys compete today in the tournament.
