Coaching Tenure: 7th Year as Lawrence Free State Head Volleyball Coach. 16th year coaching at Free State.
Personal Bio: I was raised in a coaching family in Lawrence, Kansas. My dad was the first head football coach at Free State and is currently coaching and teaching at Baldwin High School. My younger brothers, also Free State graduates, both played varsity football and baseball and went on to play at the college level. I graduated from Free State in 2003, where she played varsity volleyball and basketball and threw the javelin in track. I attended Baker University for two years and played volleyball from 2003-2005. I then transferred to the University of Kansas, where I was on the Women's Rowing team, and graduated in 2008 with a bachelor's in K-12 Health and Physical Education. In 2008, I was hired to coach JV volleyball at Lawrence Free State under Nancy Hopkins and C-Team Basketball. My first teaching job was in integrated studies before landing a physical education job shortly after. I then taught adapted physical education at nine different schools in Lawrence before returning to general physical education at Free State. I received my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction from Emporia State in 2012, and I am working on my Educational Leadership License from Emporia State. I reside in Lawrence with my husband, Blake, and three children: Brynn, 10, Bowen, 8, and Blair, 4. Teaching has always been my calling, and I am proud to be a member of the Free State community.
