Welcome to Southwest Middle School! We are excited you are here! I'm going to provide you with a little bit about myself, but always feel free to email or call me.
I grew up in Ottawa, KS and when it was time to go off and expand my horizons I went to Manhattan, KS. I received both my undergraduate and graduate degrees from Kansas State University and Manhattan still holds a piece of my heart. Another area that holds a piece of my heart is education and more importantly, school counseling. I have always known that I wanted to work in the schools, but it wasn't until my senior year of college that I really started to explore school counseling as an option. I did my student teaching, substitute taught for a bit and then I became a paraeducator for Lawrence Public Schools. After helping out as a para for 2 years, I was offered my first counseling position here at SW. My first year, I helped to teach some theatre classes and was one of the school counselors. As exciting as teaching is, school counseling is where my heart belongs and that is where I plan to stay. Not only am I lucky enough to be a school counselor, but I am also lucky enough to work with part of 7th grade and all of the 8th grade. I really enjoy working with the older students because I can really start to focus on College and Career Readiness, which is very important to me. I can't wait to get to know your student!
When I am not at school, I continue to go to K-State home football and basketball games and I love to hang out with my dog, Astra.
