Born in Kiel, northern Germany, I received my education in Germany where I also made my first professional experiences as a teacher.
After graduating high school I earned my Staatsexamen (roughly the equivalent of a masters degree) in History and English from the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel. During my studies I was fortunate to spend two semesters at Penn State University as a graduate exchange student.
For some 12 years I taught English and History at the Küstenymnasium Neustadt and the Johann-Heinrich-Voß-Schule in Eutin.
In 2013 I was the chaperone for the German participants in the high school student exchange between the Sister Cities of Eutin and Lawrence. During my stay in Lawrence I met my future wife, got married the next year and immigrated to the US.
Since August 2015 I have been teaching German and AVID at LHS and I frequently chaperone the high school student exchange between Eutin and Lawrence. For 2020/21 I will be teaching two CTE classes instead of AVID.
