I am a school counselor and the military/college liaison for Free State. 2020-21 will be my eighth year as a counselor and my 33rd year overall. For 23 years, I taught both high school and middle school students English and History for Topeka, Emporia, Salina, and Lawrence public schools, plus I worked as a substitute teacher for 2 years.
When counseling students, I emphasize personal responsibility and self-advocacy skill building. I assist students by providing guidance with personal, social, and academic choices for success while in high school and beyond.
Prior to teaching I gained life experience as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force for both the 52nd Combat Support Group-Spangdahlem and the 323rd Air Base Group-Mather, Brakeman for the AT&SF Railway, and Nuclear Station Operator for Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation.
I am a native Kansan, and I received my B.S., M.S., and Teacher License at Emporia State University.
