I earned a BA and MS from University of Kansas. My BA is in Secondary Education with a major in Language Arts. My MS in in Emotional Disturbance in Secondary Education. I also have many graduate hours beyond my degree. I opened the ED classroom at Washington High School in Kansas City, KS. I taught there for 16 years, but grew weary of the commute and wanted to work closer to home.  While a teacher in the USD 500 district I was on many curriculum committees creating computer literacy, thinking skills, study skills, and social development programs for primary and secondary special education students. I was also part of a special education team that assisted when other school sped teams struggling with a specific student. I have been at LMCMS for over 15 years teaching students identified with needs in learning disabilities, emotional disturbance and autism. While a teacher in the USD497 district, I have served on many committees. School committees I have served on include the leadership committee, the Fun Run committee, and the Courtesy Fund committee.  District committees I have served on include LEAP, Time out guidelines, and I was the first and am currently the Wellness Ambassador for LMCMS.
