Mrs. Julie Battaglia
I have been teaching at Liberty Memorial Central Middle School for several years. When our building was Central Junior High School I taught 9th grade Biology and Advanced Biology. When the district transitioned to a middle school I loved working at Central so much I decided to accept the position as a 6th grade science teacher. In addition to teaching science, I am one of the AVID Coordinators and I teach an 8th grade AVID Elective class, as well as a 6th grade guided studies class.
I currently hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with an emphasis in Botany and a minor in Chemistry and a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership. I have had a lot of experience in the science field. I have been a garden coordinator for a non-profit organization in Denver, Colorado where I managed an organic farm and over thirty school gardens. At the same time I worked for a second non-profit organization called "Embracing Horses" in Denver, Colorado where I took care of over 25 horses and helped with the inner-city horse back riding program. For several years, I have volunteered with veterinarians in Colorado as well as Kansas. It is a joy to be able to put my love of plants and animals together through teaching Science.
