Nancy Jackson

Gifted Education Facilitator

I have been in the field of education for over 30 years. During that time I have taught middle school science, directed and was head teacher of a preschool, taught as a middle school at-risk tutor, taught second grade, taught six years as the K-8 gifted facilitator in Hiawatha, KS, and I have been with LVS as the gifted facilitator for over ten years.

I received my undergraduate degree in elementary education from Benedictine College in Atchison, and my masters in gifted education from Emporia State University.  I have also completed the training to become a facilitator for SENG (Supporting the Emotional Needs of the Gifted) Parent Support Groups.

I have two adult sons, a daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren!  My husband is an RN in the emergency room of our local hospital. He also is an amazing carpenter and has remodeled our entire house, plus he and my sons built a trebuchet with a 900 pound counter-weight and an ice skating rink in our back yard.  We live on an organic farm near Robinson, Kansas.  We enjoy the fields, timber, pond, creek, garden, and organic grain, beef, and poultry from the farm.

I love the ability for LVS students to not have to do busy work or to wait for other students to catch up with them. I also enjoy just knowing my students and their families and getting to learn about their passions and their interests.
