Mrs. Lovett

Hi there!

Thank you for visiting our Schoolwires Site!

My name is Amanda Lovett, and I am happy to be teaching first grade at Schwegler.  I began my professional teaching career at Pinckney Elementary School in Lawrence in 2005. I have taught second and fifth grade for Lawrence Public Schools.

I have two favorite things about working at Schwegler. The first is the diversity of cultures and languages our school community serves. I love our native English speakers and non-native English speakers living and learning together and from one another. We all learn from one another, and it is a beautiful thing to be a part of. I love helping foster a sense of appreciation and love for learning about many cultures and races. I also am very thankful for all the wonderful collegues I work with who are sincerely committed to providing the best possible instruction they can for all of our students.

I am absolutely intrigued with children's developing minds and the way the brain aquires and retains information, and I love learning new ways to best teach the "whole child." I have a passion for using humor, music, and physical movement in my classroom instruction. I especially love the developmental level of second graders. They just say things that make me smile, laugh, and appreciate "the little things" in life each day. I especially love experiencing and being a part of the development within reading that occurs at this grade level. I look forward to seeing their faces each morning as I get ready for work.

I believe in Love and Logic (a classroom and parenting philosphy developed by Dr. Jim Faye) as a classroom management system, and am happy to be using Positive Behavorial Supports as a part of our new CI3T plan as a whole school this year.

I am happy to serve your family this year, and hope I can help and guide your child to accomplish the goals you envision for them.
