I am incredibly excited to be a part of such a special place, Woodlawn Elementary. It is a beautiful, historical facility with amazing people that make up the Riverhawk family. It is with great joy and honor that I am privileged to serve as Woodlawn Elementary's building principal for the upcoming school year.
My goals parallel Woodlawn Elementary and Lawrence Public Schools: Equity, Excellence, and Engagement. These principles form the foundation of our educational community, and together, we strive to create an inclusive and nurturing environment where every student can thrive and succeed.
I began my career in Geary County Schools, where I had the opportunity to teach 2nd and 4th grades. I also served as an assistant principal at Seitz Elementary in Fort Riley, Kansas, and assistant director of the Lawrence Virtual School, where I gained valuable insights into administrative responsibilities and the importance of fostering a supportive school culture. I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in math and science and a graduate degree in Educational Leadership at Kansas State University.
Before my career in education, I served in the U.S. Army as a medic. This experience instilled a sense of discipline, teamwork, and dedication, which drives my commitment to providing our students with the best educational experience.
Thank you for the opportunity to lead Woodlawn Elementary and collaborate with our dedicated staff, supportive parents, and eager students.
