Welcome to Woodlawn Elementary!
I am incredibly excited to be a part of such a special place. It is a beautiful, historic facility with amazing people that make up the Riverhawk family. It is with great joy and honor that I have the privilege to serve as Woodlawn Elementary's building principal.
My goals parallel that of Woodlawn Elementary and Lawrence Public Schools: Equity, Excellence, and Engagement. Having grown up in Northeast Iowa and serving in the United States Military, I believe in a shared leadership model where everyone has a role in creating, maintaining, and celebrating our successes.
Woodlawn has a proud history of both social and academic achievement. In 2010, Woodlawn was honored as a National Blue Ribbon School, for our commitment to achievement and to ensuring that students learn and succeed. This recognition was achieved through the hard work of our outstanding students, an expert and dedicated staff of caring professionals, active and involved parents, and a supportive community. This award acknowledged our continued focus on meeting the needs of our student population and providing them with rigorous, standards-based instruction while recognizing students’ individual needs. Together as a learning community, we are committed to working hand-in-hand toward the success of all our children.
All Lawrence elementary schools use a CI3T Plan as a system of support. The CI3T refers to a comprehensive, integrated, three-tiered (CI3T) model of prevention that includes academic (response-to-intervention), behavior (positive behavior interventions and support), and social/emotional (e.g., Positive Action) components to support all students.
Our school-wide expectations are:
- Respect Yourself and Others
- Respect Class Time
- Respect Property
My personal goal is to respect and continue the valued traditions and procedures of the Riverhawks, a commitment to putting our Riverhawk students first!
I look forward to a great school year! Please feel free to contact me at 785-832-5920 or firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions or concerns you may have.
