• Welcome to Woodlawn Elementary!

I am incredibly grateful to be a part of such a special place. It is a beautiful, historical facility with amazing people that make up the Riverhawk family. With great joy and honor, I have the privilege of serving as Woodlawn Elementary's building principal.  My goals parallel Woodlawn Elementary and Lawrence Public Schools: Equity, Excellence, and Engagement. Having the pleasure of working with the incredible staff, students, and families of Woodlawn since 2016 this beautiful school community holds a special place in my heart. I do not take the opportunity to be the next leader of the historical school lightly.

Woodlawn has a proud history of both social and academic achievement. In 2010, Woodlawn was honored as a National Blue Ribbon School for its commitment to achievement and ensuring that students learn and succeed. This recognition was achieved through the hard work of our outstanding students, an expert and dedicated staff of caring professionals, active and involved parents, and a supportive community.   This award acknowledged our continued focus on meeting the needs of our student population and providing them with rigorous, standards-based instruction while recognizing students' individual needs. As a learning community, we are committed to working hand-in-hand toward the success of all our children.

Our building celebrated it's 100th birthday on February 5th, 2024. We spent the 2023-2024 school year celebrating the past, present, and future of Woodlawn. Looking forward we created a scholarship titled the WING Scholarship (Woodlawn Inspiring the Next Generation) elligble to seniors who attended Woodlawn during their elementary years. You can find out more about our scholarship and make donations to our fund here: LSF - Donate - WING Scholarship

My personal goal is to respect and continue the valued traditions and procedures of the Riverhawks, a commitment to putting our Riverhawk students first!

I look forward to a great school year! Don't hesitate to contact me at 785-832-5920 or bdaley@usd497.org with any questions or concerns.

    Thank you,

    Brandon Daley
