• Boys & Girls Club

Update for Fall of 2020: The Boys and Girls Clubs of Lawrence will also begin offering full-day programs at four school locations: Cordley, Hillcrest, Sunflower, and the Teen Center for Great Futures at the Lawrence College and Career Center campus. In addition to supporting students with their remote learning using a 1:12 staff-student ratio, the clubs will offer Project Learn, Positive Action, sports, fitness, cooking, and Torch Club. USD 497's Food Service staff and the Teen Center chef will provide club members daily breakfast, lunch, and snack.

Douglas County's Education Unified Command's Childcare Committee also is working to identify community daycare needs and available resources. This collaboration of city, county, public and private schools, universities, public health officials, and businesses wants to support families, including parents and caregivers performing essential work, such as teaching. USD 497's Deputy Superintendent Dr. Anna Stubblefield serves as an equity adviser to the EUC and a member of the childcare committee.
