    Kindergarten Playdates
     
    July & August
     Families with incoming kindergarteners are invited to come to the school playground for games and treats. These are great opportunities for the new kindergarteners to make friends with classmates before the school year starts.
    W.A.T.C.H. DOGS
    Throughout the
    school year 
    This program aimed at increasing the presence of male role models at the school.  This is a national program, and we are seeking a "Top Dog" to work with Mr. Williams to launch this program at Prairie Park.
    Eat & Earn Nights
    (once each month)
      Eat out at area restaurants and earn money for the school. Locations will be announced in advance. 
    Run Club TBD
     
    All Prairie Park students, families, and teachers are invited to run or walk along a route in front of the school building. Students earn prizes for achieving mileage goals. Parent volunteers are encouraged.
    Sneak Peek and Treat
     
    Monday before school starts, students and parents are invited meet their teachers, visit their new classrooms, drop of school supplies, and enjoy a cool treat.
    Read-A-Thon         
     
    Teachers will provide students with class time to complete 10 reading sessions.  Students will personalize web pages through which family and friends can provide donations to sponsor them in the Read-A-Thon.  We will also provide an option for collection cash donations.
     
    Trick or Treat 
     October 
     
    Come in costume and bring the whole family for  trick-or-treating at the school.
     
    Spiritwear       October/November    Families may purchase Prairie Park t-shirts and sweatshirts. 
    Fall & Spring
    Conference Meals
     November 6 & 7
     February 19 & 20
    Teachers put in some really long days during Parent/Teacher conferences and providing meals at school helps them fit time to eat into their packed schedules. Volunteers sign up to help coordinate and bring items for three meals.
    Book Fair
    November 6& 7
     
    The book fair is held during the Fall Parent/Teacher conferences and all the proceeds are used to purchase new books for the school library.
    Family/Grandparent's Day  November  Grandparents (or another special guest) are invited for a special activity in the classroom and lunch.
    Lend-a-Hand  Nov. 9-Dec. 16
     Donations of gifts and necessities are collected to be given to Prairie Park families in need.
     
    Science Discovery Day

    Come to school for science exploration.  Science groups, classrooms, and community volunteers set-up interactive, hands-on science stations for students and their families to explore.
     
    ROAR Fest   
    TBD-May
    This festival will combine a student and staff talent show with carnival games and a wellness fair.
     
     
     

    Volunteer Recognition Day

    April  PTA plans and coordinates tokens of appreciation for school volunteers and LEAP business partners.

    May   The PTA coordinates special treats for the teachers and staff to celebrate National Teacher Appreciation Week.
     
     
     
    5th Grade Recognition May  The PTA provides funds for a recognition ceremony and celebration for the graduating 5th graders.      
    Box Tops &
    Checkers Receipts
    Throughout the
    school year
    The PTA collects and processes Box Tops and receipts from Checkers and Hy-Vee. These programs bring in extra funds and equipment for the school. You can help by bringing in box tops and receipts to the school office. 
    Food Shelf
    Throughout the
    school year
    Located in the school foyer, families are invited to leave or utilize donations of food as needed. Take what you need, leave what you can!
