Welcome Bulldogs!! I am proud to say that I am a Bulldog OG (that's original in kid terms!). During my time at Southwest, we have transitioned from a Junior High into a Middle School, saying goodbye to 9th graders and welcoming 6th graders into our building. I absolutely LOVE being a BULLDOG, the faculty and staff that I serve with, the athletes that I coach, and the students that I teach. Southwest truly is my home.
In my 31 years in this district I have taught physical education and health, but truly enjoy being in the gym and being active with my classes. My students would tell you that I throw a pretty good dodgeball, at 50+ can still hold my own on the basketball court, lI ove a good game of floor hockey and MOST would say that I am a decent DJ (although they might add that my dance moves are a little out of date!).
I was honored to receive the 2016 Lawrence School District Teacher of the Year Award. I have also coached 8th (and 9th) grade volleyball, 8th (and 9th) grade basketball, boys and girls tennis, boys and girls track, and was the Varsity Girls Basketball Coach at Lawrence High for 8 seasons. In 2008 our team was fortunate enough to win the 6A State Championship and the following season I was honored with my 100th high school coaching win. Coaching is a HUGE part of who I am, and I love the relationships that I can build while working with my student/athletes away from the classroom.
Here's to another great school year!
GO BULLDOGS!!
