Welcome to 6th grade Science.

This year in science our study will include life, earth, and physical science topics.  Some specific topics include cells and cell processes, genetics, weather and climate, kinetic and potential energy, and energy transfer  The focus for the class will be to develop students' problem solving and analytical thinking skills through the study of scientific concepts and ideas.  Activities and labs will also incorporate reading, writing, and math skills into our study.

I have been teaching 6th grade Science at Southwest since arriving here with the first class of 6th graders in 2011.  Before my move to Southwest, I taught 6th grade at both the middle and elementary level.  Science has always been the subject that I most love to teach and I am rather fond of 6th graders as well.

When I am not at work, I can often be found outdoors biking or walking my dogs.  My dogs and I often come across interesting wildlife to appreciate and investigate.  I try to pass on my appreciation of the outdoors and what it offers to my students.  Hopefully by the end of the year, I will have helped develop a new generation of turtle, spider, and snake protectors!

I am excited for another school year to begin.
Go Bulldogs!
