I am the inspired teacher of a second grade blended learning classroom. Personalizing each student's learning path and classroom experience is my passion. I bring to the classroom an enthusiasm for technology, innovation in the realm of teaching and learning, and a genuine love of second graders.
I received a Bachelor's Degree from Kansas State University and a Master's Degree from Webster University. More than 800 first or second graders have passed through my doors in the last 36 years. I am the 2015 INACOL Blended and Online Teacher of the Year, The 2014 Lawrence Public Schools Elementary Teacher of the Year, the 2004 recipient of the Lawrence Schools Foundation "Bob's" Excellence in Teaching Award, and the 2000 recipient of the Vicky Larason Landman Equity in Education Award. I am humbled by and proud of each and every recognition.
My passion for teaching extends beyond the classroom to include sharing my knowledge and experiences with colleagues everywhere. I have presented at the INACOL conference, Mid-Atlantic Conference on Personalized Learning, BbWorld, Smart-Education Conference at Beijing Normal University, ISTE Conference, and KU Conference of Educational Strategies. I have provided professional development for Lawrence Public Schools and Auburn-Washburn Public Schools. I have especially enjoyed mentoring numerous pre-service teachers and new teachers, hopefully inspiring them to reach beyond and innovate as educators.
