Welcome to my page! I am so pleased to be teaching third grade at New York Elementary again this year! I have worked at N.Y. in one capacity or another since 1995!
I have lived many places over the years, but I think of myself as being from Baltimore, MD and Manhattan, KS. I have also lived in California and Colorado. I've held many jobs in the public schools over the years. I started out as a speech-language pathologist working in early childhood centers in Denver. I then worked at Turner Elementary in Kansas City for four years. I started working in Lawrence in 1995, serving children in settings from early childhood all the way to high school! I also worked as a special education resource teacher. I've worked at many schools in Lawrence over the years, but one of them has always been New York Elementary.
I am married to Dr. Claudia Bode, who is an education director at KU. I have two daughters, both of whom attend the Lawrence Public Schools. My hobbies include reading and playing the guitar. I love the musical Hamilton, reading Harry Potter, and sharing my love for learning with children!
