I love what I do! From the time I graduated from Sterling College until today, I have been involved in education both as a teacher and as a student. I love teaching today as much as I did when I began 20 years ago. My early career found me teaching elementary physical education in Iowa. In California I taught middle school physical education, math, history, computers, leadership, as well as coached volleyball, basketball, softball and tennis. I returned to Kansas in 2001 where I became the director for the Reno County Learning Center in Hutchinson, a program designed for students to complete their high school diplomas in an alternative setting. Our facility also served a very large ESL population. When my first grandchild was born in Overland Park, my husband and I decided we wanted to move closer to her. Thus, in 2010 we moved to Ottawa where I worked for the Ottawa School District as the District-wide ESL coordinator for two years. In August I began my second year at LHS teaching ESL. This has been a wonderful move for me as every day I get a taste of the world working with second language speakers who bring a myriad of experiences and cultures to the classroom. I am an avid sports fan and a huge KU fan…especially during basketball season! I feel privileged to be able to work with such a great group of teachers, staff, and students.
