Ms. Jamie Johnson

Jamie is entering her fifth year teaching English and Theatre at LHS, and is also the director of the LHS Theatre program. Prior to becoming a teacher, Jamie worked as a freelance theatre professional all over the U.S and abroad, primarily as as stage director and as a senior script editor for the Lovewell Institute for the Creative Arts, a non-profit dedicated to creating new works of musical theatre with young people.

Jamie has taught and developed theatre education curriculum for many organizations, including Chicago Kids Company (IL), Hollywood Center for the Performing Arts (FL), Kansas City Young Audiences (MO), and the Salina Community Theatre (KS). She has also worked with several organizations to create theatre with young people with disabilities. Post-grad school, Jamie was a contributing author to the book Trauma-Informed Drama Therapy, published in 2014. She is passionate about encouraging students to think critically, practice radical empathy, and become insatiably curious about the world around them.

Jamie considers herself an amateur sewist, a semi-amateur baker, and a professional night owl.
