Degrees and Certifications:

Dr. Matthew Brungardt

I have worked in Lawrence Public Schools for thirteen years. It is my seventh year working as the principal at Lawrence High School; I also served as the building associate principal for six years.   Prior to coming to Lawrence, I worked as principal and assistant principal at Kapaun Mount Carmel High School, in Wichita, Kansas.   I taught social studies at Bishop Hogan High School and Saint Thomas Aquinas High School in Kansas City.

I was raised in Salina, Kansas and attended Salina Central High School.   After I finished high school, I attended the University of Kansas and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.   I worked briefly for the Kansas Secretary of State before completing my teaching certification at Rockhurst College. I earned my master’s degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and my doctoral degree from Saint Louis University.

Courtney and I have two boys.  Cole and Ross currently are students here at Lawrence High School. As a family we enjoy golfing and sporting activities.
