Ms. Samantha Thibodeau

Hello, I am so looking forward to this coming year with you and your families! We are going to have so much fun and learn a TON this year. I can’t wait to get to learn all about you, but first I’m going to let you get to know me a little bit…

I was born and raised in Northwest Kansas on a farm near Hoxie, KS. After graduating from high school, I moved to Lawrence to become a Jayhawk. Rock chalk!! I obtained a degree in Journalism, but soon realized that my calling was in teaching, so I returned to school to obtain a master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education. This year is my 15th year teaching, and my 9th year at Kennedy Elementary. I was previously a special education teacher in Eudora, KS, for 6 years at the Kindergarten age-level, and I also taught preschool at a center here in town for several years prior to that. I have a daughter, Ava, who is in First Grade this year. She is an amazing kiddo, and I love seeing her learn and grow! We love spending time with all of my extended family, and try to visit them as often as we can!

Outside of school, I love being active, and do bootcamp workouts, yoga, and kickboxing. I am a 2nd degree black belt in Taekwondo, and I love participating in recreation volleyball (and softball, if I have time). I also love reading (Harry Potter is my fave!), watching movies, and working in my yard. If I ever have a chance, I love to visit the mountains or beaches. Building relationships with my students and families is a big priority for me, so your kiddos will also soon learn that my favorite animal is the dolphin, my favorite color is any shade of blue, I LOVE chocolate, and I am also a HUGE Jayhawk basketball fan! I can't wait to learn all about them!

I am so excited for this year! I absolutely love working with Kindergarteners, because their eagerness to learn amazes me every day! They grow so much during Kindergarten. I know we are going to have a great year together! Please always feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns at my email, and I'll also have other modes of contact, including Seesaw, a class Facebook page, etc.
