Hello, Sunset Hill family! My name is Sylvie Althoff, and I'm thrilled to be a part of this incredible learning community. This is my first year in Lawrence Public Schools and my first year teaching second grade.

I have Master's degrees in English and Education, and I've been teaching learners of all ages all over the world since 2007. I've taught in Japan, Korea, France, Guinea, and best of all, northeast Kansas! I live in North Lawrence with my wife, Jenn, and our pets, Nomi the dog and Pocket the cat. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy writing, cooking, knitting, playing banjo, and riding my bike (but not all at the same time). Over and above my passion for teaching, I'm a professional writer, editor, and musician.
