Hi, my name is Michelle Leeker. I graduated from Pittsburg State University with my Bachelor's and Master's In Education.  I also attended Emporia State University to get my Reading Specialist. I have taught for 27 years and started my career here in Lawrence at Kennedy Elementary School.  I have also taught in Baldwin.

I grew up in Baldwin City, where we still live, around all our family. I have 3 children.  My oldest works for the State of Kansas, lives in Lawrence, and is married. My youngest is married,  lives in California, and is finishing up her last year in college.  My middle son passed away at 21 months from a rare disease.

We love to travel and hang out with family and friends!

I love teaching at Southwest Middle School.  My goal is to find something that my students will enjoy during ELA.  We do lots of different activities to find each person’s talents and interests while learning skills through reading and writing.
