Hi, my name is Michelle Leeker. I graduated from Pittsburg State University with a Bachelor's and Master's in Education.  I also attended Emporia State University to get my Reading Specialist. I have taught for 28 years and started my career here in Lawrence at Kennedy Elementary School.  I have also taught at Baldwin.

I grew up with our entire family in Baldwin City, where we still live. I have 3 children.  My oldest child is married and has my first grandchild. He works for the State of Kansas. My youngest is married and lives the military life.  She works for Bright Star in California.  My middle son passed away at 21 months from a rare disease.

We love to travel and hang out with family and friends!

I love teaching at Southwest Middle School.  My goal is to find something that my students will enjoy during ELA.  We do lots of different activities to find each person’s talents and interests while learning skills through reading and writing.
