Lawrence High staff and students gathered in the school atrium this morning with cake, balloons, signs, and banners to surprise Zana Kennedy with the announcement of her selection for the Susan Massy Award, given annually to the Kansas Student Journalist of the Year.

Sunset Hill Elementary's 2nd graders and librarian Tiffany Easley learned lots about Mars and showed off some colorful collages they created to celebrate Black History Month.

"There's no such thing as a mistake, just an opportunity to learn," said Lawrence College & Career Center Chef David Weakley to his Culinary students after needing to make a last-minute change to their meal just hours before a group of Kansas Teacher of the Year nominees were set to arrive for a luncheon.
