Communications Office

Our Communications Team oversees staff, public, and media relations and communications to inform, educate, maintain transparency, and build community advocacy and trust.

Our Team

Executive Director of Communications

The Executive Director of Communications reports to the Superintendent and serves as an information liaison between our school district and the community, develops communications strategies, manages crisis communication, oversees communication tools (e.g., staff e-newsletter, website, mass notification system, district newsletter, social media, etc.), and coordinates district special events.

Multimedia Communications Specialist

The Multimedia Communications Specialist, Andrew Beaven, reports to the Executive Director of Communications. Andrew tells our story by sharing photographs, creating videos, hosting our district's podcast, and utilizing social media, with the goal of highlighting the everyday teaching and learning happening in our classrooms and, ultimately, to answer the age-old question that parents often ask of their children, "What did you do at school today?"

Staff Recognition

Thank you for helping our district recognize some of its many exemplary educators and support staff. Please send letters of recommendation to the Superintendent in care of the Communications Office to nominate classroom teachers for our annual Lawrence Master Teacher Award and Lawrence Teacher of the Year Awards and to honor classified support staff with our fall and spring Class Act Awards. Thank you to Lawrence Education Achievement Partner Truity Credit Union for sponsoring our staff recognition program!

As part of the district's strategic plan's focus on Effective Employees, each school and educational support site regularly recognizes outstanding staff for their dedicated service. Please submit a nomination to recognize school principals, educators, and support staff for their dedication and commitment to student achievement and success.

Public Record Requests

The board appoints the Executive Director of Communications to serve as our district's Freedom of Information Officer, supporting public record requests. Read more about record requests and complete, sign, and submit this Request Form for copies of public records.

Stay Engaged and Informed

We invite you to follow district happenings on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Use this list of school social media accounts to stay engaged and informed of school activities and events. Read school board and district news.
