    Bingo Night
    Chair:   Alicia Smiley
    Description:  

    Help promote, organize, solicit prize donations or work at family Bingo Night. (Usually held in early October)

     
    Movie Nights
    Chair:   currently vacant
    Description:  

    Organize and set up occasional movie nights at school for various grades, or for the whole school.

     
    PTO Board
    Chair:   Sarah Hoskinson
    Description:  

    The Exec Board of PTO handles all activities for this committee.

     
    Book Fair
    Chair:   Amy LeMert Nuzum and Kyly Batman 
    Description:  

    Help plan for, set up, take down or vounteer to help sell books at our annual 3 day book fair in February.

     
    Box Tops
    Chair:   Crystal Dodds
    Description:  

    Help to publicize, create and submit box tops for cash payment back to school.

     
    Carnival
    Chair:   Diane Vigna
    Description:  

    Help to organize various activities at the school carnival held in April.  Subcommittees include: prizes, games, silent auction, publicity, concessions, wristbands and more. 

    This can be done by two people if they want.

    Are you interested?  This is the last year for the current chair person, the sooner a new chair volunteers, the more time they can shadow the outgoing chair. 

     
    Community Outreach

    Description:  

    Help promote, organize, collect and distribute donations for our Adopt-a-Family program in December.

     
    Direct Donation Campaign

    Description:  

    Help with our primary fundraiser for PTO to benefit the teachers, students, and families of Langston Hughes.

     
    Eat N Earn
    Chair:   Angel Nuzum
    Description:  

    Arrange and publicize these fundraisers with local restuarants that donate a percentage back to our PTO.

     
    Fifth Grade Recognition
    Chair:   currently vacant
    Description:  

    Work with other 5th grade parents to make this a special year as your 5th grader transistions out of Langston Hughes.

    An organization meeting will be held at the begining of the school year. 

     
    Hospitality and Teacher Meals
    Chair:   Julie Girard, Kyly Bateman and Audrey Welch
    Description:  

    We coordinate meals for the teachers and staff during parent/teacher confrences, provide snacks on in-service days, and provide end of semester gifts for all teachers and staff.  We also help celebrate individual appreciation days throughout the year. 

    Our primary goal is to ensure all teachers and staff know how much we, as parents, appreciate all their hard work and dedication to our kids.

     
    Marathon Club
    Chair:   Jenn Myers and Megan Sheldon
    Description:  

    Our Marathon Club gives kids the chance to run twice a week towards a goal of finishing 26.3 miles.  You can volunteer for it through their website.

     
    Pancake Dinner
    Chair:   Meghan Spreer & Peony Allen
    Description:  

    Help organize, promote or work a shift at the family pancake dinner during the book fair in February.

     
    Room Parents
    Chair:   Vanessa Schemm & Susan Werner
    Description:  

    Organize and oversee the group of parents/guardians who volunteer to do the parties three times a year in the classrooms.

    Signups are with the teachers for individual classroom parent positions.

     
    Science Fair/Science Night
    Chair:   Whiney Rawls & Deborah Bredehoft
    Description:  

    Organize and staff our yearly science fair to encourage budding scientists.

     
    Snowman
    Chair:   Angela Randall
    Description:  

    Help make choosing a holiday gift for the teachers a little easier by hanging the snowmen and filling out the buttons from the teachers' wish lists.

     
    Social Media/Website
    Chair:   Diane Vigna
    Description:  

    This is another great way to help even if you can't come to school, and to fill a much needed role in our PTO.  We need a few people with social media know how that can help add content to the PTO Facebook page and to help keep this website up to date.

     

    Keep everyone informed about PTO news and updates through approved social media forums and this webiste.

     
    Spirit Wear
    Chair:   Crystal Dodds
    Description:  

    Collect and organize orders for school spirit wear and then help distribute the orders to students when they arrive.

     
    Staff Appreciation
    Chair:   Audrey Welch
    Description:  

    Help with showing our appreciation for all of our school staff during the appropriate scheduled times, spread throughout the year.  Help with just one or with more.

     
    Yearbook
    Chair:   Angela Randall
    Description:  

    Help collect photos and design the LHE yearbook.  Collect orders and help to distribute the books when they arrive.
