Since 1992 Kansas statutes have required every school seeking accreditation to have a building site council. Kansas Education Systems Accreditation (KESA) regulations require every school system seeking accreditation to have a district site council that participates in the system's accreditation process. Representing the district's parents, community, and business/industry, the District Site Council provides input during every step of the growth process. The District Site Council reviews and provides input/feedback on the work of district leadership regarding goal selection, action plan development, evidence/data, and analysis of academic, social/emotional and behavioral growth.
District Site Councils are made up primarily of non-employees of the district. The following groups make up the site council:
Board of Education (2)
Students (2)
Parents (3)
Community Members/Partners (5)
Business/Industry (4)
Staff (3)
District Administration (2)
This group meets quarterly at USD 497's Educational Support Center, 110 McDonald Drive.
