    The Lawrence Board of Education on December 8, 2014, approved several school boundary changes, following review of a Boundary Advisory Committee's recommendations and consideration of public input.
     
     
    Elementary School Boundary Changes
     
    Langston Hughes to Quail Run Elementary - students in the area north of 6th Street and east of Queens Road extending to Folks Road. (transition to begin in 2015-16)
     
    Deerfield to Sunset Hill Elementary - students in the area south of Peterson Road to 6th Street between Monterey Way and Kasold Drive; in addition to the area east of Schwarz Road to McDonald Drive. (transition to begin in 2016-17) 
     
    Middle School Boundary Changes
     
    Pinckney Elementary - all students will attend Liberty Memorial Central Middle School including the area north of 6th Street extending to I-70 and east of Iowa Street extending to the Kansas River (transition to begin in 2015-16)
     
    Schwegler Elementary - all students will attend South Middle School including the area north of 31st Street extending north beyond Clinton Parkway and east of Kasold Drive to Marvonne Road (transition to begin in 2015-16)
     
    Langston Hughes Elementary - all students will attend Southwest Middle School including the area north of 6th Street and west of Queens Road extending to the district boundary lines. (transition to begin in 2015-16)
     
    Quail Run Elementary to West Middle School - students north of Harvard Road, south of 6th Street, east of Prescott Drive extending to Monterey Way and student north of Bob Billings, south of Harvard Road, east of Monterey Way extending to Parkside Road (transition to begin in 2015-16)

    The Lawrence Board of Education on October 14, 2013, discussed a recommendation and draft guidelines for the establishment of a Boundary Advisory Committee (BAC) “to monitor district population shifts and school boundaries and recommend changes to the board” and “to ensure that equity, district growth, budget, and transportation are considered in boundary changes.”

    According to the BAC Guidelines, members shall be appointed by the board and include two board members, the assistant superintendent of business and operations, the director of administrative services, an LEA teacher representative, a City of Lawrence planning representative, a First Student representative and four community-at-large representatives.
     
    According to the BAC Guidelines, each member will serve a two-year term and be eligible for reappointment for an additional two-year term.
