Hi! My name is Peggy Dey. This is my 45th year as a school psychologist; 44 of those have been in Lawrence, KS. I actually retired in 2007 but continued to "fill in" as needed around the district for 7 years. Although I enjoyed the experience of working in a variety of schools, I came to the conclusion that I missed having a definite "home" so a few years ago, I decided to go back on contract and was assigned to Deerfield and Woodlawn, two schools that I had served in the past. My assignment was changed for the 2016-17 school year where I served Woodlawn, Pinckney, and Kennedy. For the past two years, I was assigned to Woodlawn, Deerfield, and JDC. This year, i am back to Woodlawn and Deerfield.
I am a Nebraska girl in a Kansas world, having grown up on a dairy farm in Nebraska. I attended college in Kansas and have never left. I raised my three boys in Lawrence and am lucky to have them living close to me, so that I get to see my 8 grandchildren frequently.
It is true that you can't take the country out of the girl, so 17 years ago, I relocated from Lawrence to rural Baldwin. I share my home with my partner of 27 years, Bill, 3 dogs, and 32 horses. I love sharing my horse passion with my grandchildren and many students that have crossed my path over the years. The horses, many of whom are rescues, have proven to be very therapeutic and can teach us a great deal about relationships.
I believe that all students are entitled to an appropriate education, which sometimes means that what is "fair" is not always "equal". I want all students to experience success at school and develop a life long love of learning.
